BCC Expects ₹ 6.31 lakh More Income than Expenditure for Current Fiscal

Belagavi: The Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) has surplus budget of Rs 6.31 lakh for the current fiscal 2022-23 aiming mainly on major source of income from selling its open sites and to increase the existing rent from his commercial complexes and properties.

 Rs. 447.58 crores is the estimated expenditure while the income expected is Rs 447.65 crore. The open sites will be auctioned shortly, probably in a week.

The open sites will commence within a week, said Deputy Commissioner MG Hiremath who is also the Administrator of the city corporation, briefed the media after tabling the budget on Wednesday, he said shortly e-auction for the 37 sites at Malmaruti would be called. “We are expecting around Rs 20-25 crores from the selling of sites. These apart, in order to increase the revenue, the rent of the commercial complexes would be revised”, he said.
 
Shortly, city corporation will be introducing the mobile SMS system to make alert public about their property tax and water cess.

Keys of the Budget

Rs. 500 lakhs to develop six vending zones for roadside vendors under the DAY-NULM scheme of the central government and to build restrooms for street vending women.
 

  • Rs. 100 lakhs to develop Nana Nani Park and Chinnara Udyan in the city corporation area.
     
  • Rs. 50 lakhs to construct the center for destitute women under the DAY-NULM scheme.
     
  • Rs. 100 lakhs to install statues of great personalities in various circles.
     
  • Rs. 200 lakhs earmarked to provide infrastructure facilities like drinking water, toilets and street lights at Udyambag industrial area.
     
  • Rs. 200 lakhs were kept for distributing dustbins to each household to store wet and dry waste separately.

  • Rs. 100 lakhs for the construction of pink toilets for women in the city.
     
  • Rs. 50 lakhs special fund to encourage women.
     
  • Rs. 550 lakhs for the maintenance of street lights.
     
  • Rs. 550 lakhs kept for the maintenance of the road, gutter, footpaths, and rainwater, and to apply name boards on the various places of the city.
     
  • Rs. 500 lakhs are kept separately to develop necessary infrastructure facilities in emergency situations.
     
  • Rs. 509 lakhs earmarked for the welfare of scheduled caste / scheduled tribe.
     
  • Rs. 169.37 lakhs for the welfare of other backward classes.
  • 116.81 lakhs for the welfare of the physically challenged.
     
  • Rs. 60 lakhs to control street dogs in the city.
     
  • Rs. 50 lakhs to develop infrastructure in the premises of the DC office.
