Writ Petition for Ambedkar Portrait in Court Hall

Bengaluru : Urging the judiciary department to put compulsorily the portrait of BR Ambedkar in all the court halls in the state, two from Bengaluru filed a petition with Karnataka High Court at Bengaluru on Thursday.

Jagankumar and V Parameshwar have filed a writ application to court demanding to instruct the Registrar to ensure installing the photo frames of Ambedkar in all the court halls of the state.

Ambedkar was one of the outstanding person of the nation. He was the head of the committee that formed to frame the Constitution of the nation and was the first Union Law minister of the nation, he was bestowed with the nation’s top civil award “Bharat Ratna” after his death. However, he was not given priority that being given to Mahatma Gandhi.

“It was unfortunate that his portrait were not seen in any court halls. We had submitted a memorandum over the matter to Registrar General on Dec 27, 2019, however, wouldn’t get any reply till date,” they mentioned in the application.
