Its PUNJ’AAP’, BJP Again in UP

Must read

Delhi : BJP is heading for a big win in Uttar Pradesh and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has scooped Punjab in mega elections seen as the semi-final before the 2024 national election. The BJP is also ahead of the Congress in Goa and Uttarakhand.

BJP is looking at a 250-plus tally in 403-seat Uttar Pradesh, with the Samajwadi Party, its main challenger, a distant second. The ruling party has already crossed the half-way mark.

Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP has crossed the half-way mark in Punjab with 80-plus seats in the 117-seat assembly. The ruling Congress is trailing with 13 seats.

Celebrations started early for AAP’s Chief Minister candidate Bhagwant Singh Mann in Punjab, with sweets being prepared at his home and a giant stage in Sangrur, his home town.

In Uttarakhand, the BJP has firmly forged ahead with 40-plus seats. The Congress has just crossed 20.

In Goa, the Congress is closing the lead with the BJP, which was ahead in the early rounds.

BJP is also ahead in Manipur, where a close fight was predicted by exit polls. In 2017, the BJP, despite winning fewer seats than the Congress, formed government with the help of the National People’s Party and Naga People’s Front.

Punjab’s former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who formed his own party after leaving the Congress, is trailing from the Patiala Urban seat. Aam Aadmi Party’s Chief Ministerial candidate in Goa Amit Palekar is trailing.
