Shivamogga : Naveen Janangoudar, a medical student from Karnataka at Ukraine who was killed in Russian shelling on Tuesday had scored 97pc marks in his IInd PU course here. However, it was said that he couldn’t got an admission at government medical colleges as his ranking in eligibility test NEET was less.
Hailing from a economically middle class family, Naveen’s father was not in a position to admit his son into private medical colleges by paying donation in crores of rupees. As refused to go for other couses, Naveen came to know that the cost of medical education is hundreds of fold less than in Karnataka in European countries and chose to study there. He got a seat at Karkiv National Medical University at Karkiv and joined to the course in 2018.
Studying in 4th year, Naveen who along with other medical students took shelter at bunkers went out to bring parcel food for morning breakfast when a shell missile was hit to the nearby place.
His father Shekharappa who was not in a position to control his sorrow expressed grieves over the educational policy in the state where millions of scholar student like his son Naveel could not get seat in private medical colleges.
” I’m repenting for sending my son to Ukraine, at the same time ‘am angry on the education system of our nation where wise students are not encouraged to continue higher studies in the nation instead going to other places, ” he said.
