Kolkata : Bengali film and TV actress Rupa Dutta who was arrested for alleged pickpocketing at International Kolkata Book Fair 2022 on March 12 will be produced before the court on Monday.
A constable attached to Bidhannagar North police station got suspicious after seeing a woman threw a bag in the dustbin. A sum of Rs 65,000 was found in the bag which the actress dumped in the dustbin.
The incident took place on Saturday night (March 12). As per sources at Kolkata’s Bidhannagar North police station, cops on duty at the book fair got suspicious after seeing a woman throw a bag in the dustbin. The police interrogated the woman and upon searching her bag, many money bags were recovered. According to sources, a sum of Rs 75,000 has been recovered from Rupa. Other reports suggest that Rupa will be taken to court in the matter.
According to the police, Rupa Dutta is the same actress who had wrongly accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment a few years ago.
In 2020, Rupa Dutta wrongly accused director-producer Anurag Kashyap for sending inappropriate messages on Facebook. It turned out that Rupa was conversing with another man with the same first name as Anurag. In a tweet, Rupa had shared screenshots of her chat.
