Belagavi : An aged couple moving in a car was madeaway with gold ornament by two people at Ganeshpur in Camp police station limits on Monday.
Ganpat Ramchandra Patil from Koravi galli in Old Belagavi was goining to attend one of the weddings held at Belagundi in Belagavi taluk. Two borne on a bike stopped Patil’s car in Ganeshpur, identifying themselves as police and advised them to keep inside the gold ornament they were as there was police checking ahead. They asked them to give them the ornaments so that they pack it in handkerchief and give them.
Believing, Patil’s wife tookoff her Mangalasutra weighing 250grams and gave it to them. One of the two folded it into his handkerchief and both went away on their bike.
Knew they were looted, the couple started screaming of which passerby gathered and informed Camp police. Police got a complaint from couple and tracing the cheaters by watching the footages of the CCTV cameras.
