Belagavi : Basappa Mugali from Belagavi district who has been awarded with Army’s “Shourya Chakra” award for his brewery in “Kargil War” was welcomed warmly at his home district on his maidan visit after retirement of his services.
Mugali was welcomed by a small group including former Karnataka minister Shashikant Nayak at Rani Channamma circle. Mugali who was his his army uniform garlanded to the statue of Channamma.
He told news persons that he was very much greatfull to his family which stood behind him and encouraged to his every task in services.
He said he was honoured with “Shourya Award” by the than President of the nation, KR Narayanan, for his brewery in Kargil war. He said he killed three terrorists, the third one he killed was by his own weapon. “I don’t used my weapon, but used the terrorist’s own weapon to kill him,” he said in army language style.
Mugali hailing from Chikkopp in Ramdurg taluk was served in many places including his home district Belagavi in his 28- year of services.
