Belagavi : KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital will be offering free Glaucoma Consultation and Screening services at the hospital for a week to end on Thursday.
Medical Director of the hospital Dr M V Jali said that Galucoma is a serious eye disease caused by increased fluid pressure within the eye, which can damage the optic nerves that transmit images to the brain. Glaucoma is known as “silent vision stealth”.
Glaucoma usually affects the peripheral vision and it is only in the advanced stage when damage occurs that you realize that you are suffering from the disease. 60 million population is across the globe is suffering from glaucoma, and the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than 80 million would be affected by end 2022.
Do not cultivate any unusual symptoms such as loss of vision, frequent headaches, appearance of colored hollows around the eyes, or pain and pressure around the eyelid with nausea and vomiting.
